Do you suffer from stomach related issues and do not know how to treat them? Fret not, we are here with Ayurvedic tips from an expert which can help you get rid of indigestion, bloating and acidity naturally.

Dr Dimple Jangda shared a video on her Instagram explaining how to follow these easy steps in your daily life to deal with stomach issues. She wrote while sharing, “3 easy steps to prevent indigestion.”

Chew your food 32 times to create saliva that aids digestion: The goal of chewing is to break down our food, so it loses texture. Chewing 32 times is an average number applied to most bites of food. Of course, you need to chew less for soft water filled foods like a watermelon vs a piece of bread.

Eat 80% of your appetite: Hara hachi bu is a Japanese term meaning “Eat until you’re 80% full.” It originated in the city of Okinawa, where people use this advice as a way to control their eating habits. Interestingly, they have one of the lowest rates of illness from heart disease, cancer and stroke, and a fairly long-life expectancy. This habit allows you to leave some room for the stomach to digest your foods.

Don’t drink fluids when eating, it can dilute your digestive fluids: It is believed to impact the state of the food in the stomach directly. Water is a coolant and regularly indulging in consuming it during or right after meals can interfere in the digestion process. Therefore, this practice is not encouraged by Ayurveda. Wait for at least half an hour before having water once you are done with your meal.

Use your finger to eat your solid foods (where applicable), to simulate your senses: According to Ayurveda, the nerve endings of the fingertips are believed to boost digestion. In fact, you become more aware of the textures, taste and aromas as you eat using your hands and engaging the fingertips. Eating with your hands sends messages to the brain on the kind of texture, temperature of the food, the stomach should expect.
